Each month, we're celebrating a member of FIT4MOM Las Cruces for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to FIT4MOM.
This month, we're spotlighting our brand new Welcome Captain at FIT4MOM Las Cruces! Meet our Mom of the Month for September: Giovanna Kennedy
Tell us about who is in your family!
I am a wife to my husband Ernest Kennedy, a California native. We have one daughter name Harper Love.
Where is your hometown?
My hometown is Tucson, Arizona
How did you find FIT4MOM?
I found FIT4MOM through a friendship I made with Tricia VanCleave at her Bible study
What is/was your career?
I am a commercial truck driver for U-Haul in southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas.
How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Las Cruces, and what has it done for you?
I joined FIT4MOM December 15, 2025. FIT4MOM has absolutely transformed my life. It’s brought me into a village I never knew I could find out here. I have met my absolute best of friends here. It’s given my daughter her first group of friends she is always around and enjoys being with them every workout. I’ve grow so much in my health journey and my social life. It’s been nothing but positive for us. I like to say it’s given me my pink back!!
What is your favorite class? And your favorite exercise move?
My favorite class is Body Boost! It’s such a challenging but rewarding workout. I recall the first time I went to Body Boost I told my husband I wasn’t going back because it was too hard. Now it’s my favorite class to attend. My favorite exercise from Body Boost would have to be deadlifting with a bicep curl.
What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
The most surprising thing for motherhood for me is how strong you truly are. We never know all the strengths we truly have until motherhood starts. I’ve found myself being able to take on the most of my life during this season but still being able to show up as a mother and wife.
What are three of your favorite things?
Three of my favorite things are Bible study, traveling, and iced coffee dates
What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
My proudest mommy moment so far is when my daughter finishes her meals with “Thank you God, Amen”
What advice would you give to a new mother?
The advice I would give to a new mother would be to be easy on yourself. Life is already hard but being a mother is a blessing and you will overcome all the anxiety and challenges, eventually you will look back on this time and be proud of how far you’ve come.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Find your village! Don’t be scared, it will help you and your children. There are so many moms in all the same positions—new to the area, no family around, PPD. Finding people in a no-judgment zone full of moms and kiddos is so liberating.
We are so lucky to have Giovanna in our village. It wouldn't be the same without her and Harper!
