This month, we're spotlighting a girl mom who brings so much joy to our village! Meet our Mom of the Month for September: Heather Tylka

Tell us about who is in your family!

My husband Jon, and daughters Evelyn (3), and Aria (19 months).

Where is your hometown?

St. Louis, MO

How did you find FIT4MOM?

Knowing I’d love it, my husband encouraged me to join after discovering the group at the park.

What is/was your career?

I was an Analyst at White Sands Missile Range.

How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Las Cruces, and what has it done for you?

I joined FIT4MOM in July 2023. It has given me an incredible supportive community of women, so many new mom friends, and empowered me to work towards my fitness goals.

What is your favorite class exercise?

I love when we lunge, hop, or side-step towards our babies and give them tickles! The giggles are so sweet and it always makes me smile!

What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

How messy it is, literally and figuratively

What are three of your favorite things?

Being outside, a good book, and coffee

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Having home-births. It was so empowering!

What advice would you give to a new mother?

Be kind to yourself, trust your gut, and avoid comparisons.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Motherhood is a wild ride! Finding a village of women in the same stage of life to spend time with, swap stories, and ask for advice has been amazing!

We are so lucky to have Heather in our village. It wouldn't be the same without her and her girls!
