Each month, we are celebrating a member of FIT4MOM Las Cruces for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to FIT4MOM.
This month, we are spotlighting a super fun mama who brings joy to everyone she meets! Meet our Mom of the Month for January: Haley Hutchison
Tell us about who is in your family!
My husband, Jake, is currently working through his first year of residency. Theodore, also known as Teddy, is our wild, silly, independent, brave two-year-old. Our dog, Moose, is a 7-year-old pit who is more cuddly than any one in our family.
Where is your hometown?
Both my husband and I are from the beautiful city of Ogden, Utah.
How did you find FIT4MOM?
I had a friend suggest looking into it when we moved to Las Cruces. We were playing at Young Park and I saw all the moms working out. So I reached out via Instagram that day.
What is/was your career?
Prior to having Teddy, I was a supervisor at a plasma donation center.
How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Las Cruces, and what has it done for you?
I’ve been a part of FIT4MOM for about 6 months. This fitness group has done more for me than I can even put into words. We moved here 6 months ago and didn’t know a single person in Las Cruces. From FIT4MOM I’ve made friends, Teddy has made friends, we’ve seen so many new places, had so many fun experiences, I’ve gained an exercise routine outside of weight lifting, we’ve laughed so much and felt so loved and accepted. I truly don’t think we would have had the same experience here without FIT4MOM.
What is your favorite class exercise?
Honestly, I love most of the exercises we do. I love that some are less challenging and others really kick my butt.
What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
Motherhood is a rollercoaster. The thing that surprised me the most is that one second I can be ready to lock myself in my room and cry and the next second I’m laughing so hard I’m crying. It’s really something that you take minute by minute.
What are three of your favorite things?
Food, the outdoors and trying new things
What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
I can’t really choose one. I’m just proud every day of both myself and Teddy. I’m proud that Teddy is learning and growing every day. That he takes things I’ve shown him and puts it to use when he needs it. I’m proud of myself for learning patience with Teddy.
What advice would you give to a new mother?
Don’t sweat the little stuff and give yourself grace. Your house isn’t perfect, your kid ate Cheetos and donuts for lunch one day, you took a nap when you should workout. Life is not a race, it’s a marathon.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I just wanted to thank every mom and child at FIT4MOM Las Cruces. You all have added so much joy to mine and Teddy’s life and have made us feel more at home than we ever did in the years we live in Nevada. We love and appreciate you all so much.
We are so lucky to have Haley in our village. It wouldn't be the same without her and Teddy!
